=Food Hunt= Penang - Thai Food @ Syafikah Tomyam Seafood restaurant

To get a bowl of mix seafood Tom Yum like this in Tanjung Bungah for only RM5, unbelievable right? But it is true if you know how to find the way.

As you might have notice that after a left turn at the traffic lights of Maybank Tanjung Bungah from town, there are several restaurants on the left. Toward the end you will find Syafikah Tomyam Seafood restaurant.

You might think that this is one of the local Malay restaurants, but the truth is that the owner is the Muslim from Pattani, Thailand, and they sell Muslim Thai food at reasonable prices.

Gibson always come here for the 3-Flavor Seabass, the only catch is they don’t serve small size fish, only big size fish that one person won’t be able to finish, and for the fish in the photo costs only RM25.

However, this restaurant is not very big, with only around 10 tables, yet it is very popular among the Rahman College’s students, so sometime can be really hard to get a table. But you can always order a take away and even order a 3-Flavor Seabass to go is as good as you having it there, because they separated the gravy to retain the best taste.

They charge the fish based on market price and the size, and for this one in the photo costs around RM32. As Gibson put a name card next to it, so that you can see how big is the fish.

Now pouring in the gravy.

The meat of the fish is milky white, which mean it is very fresh.

And beware that the owner is very generous with the spices, as you can see the amount of leftover chilies on the plate.

Red Sauce Squid RM4

Don’t expect to get a big cuttlefish if you only pay RM4, so Gibson is happy with the size of the squid and the spicy Merah (Red) sauce.

Chicken Paprik RM4

It tastes a bit like Turmeric flavored chicken that has a little bit of bitterness in it.

3-Flavor Fried Egg RM3.50

Taste as good as the fish, a bit sweet though.

Chinese kale with Salted Fish RM3.50

One of the Gibson’s favorite dishes in this restaurant.
