=Penang= Granny’s Country Kitchen @ Rangoon Road

There is a newly opened restaurant -- Granny’s Country Kitchen at Rangoon Road offering nice set meals, but due to them being very new at the business, they are kind of in a scramble to get our orders prepared. We waited quite a while to get all our orders served and they didn’t serve our free soup and had to be reminded.

However, we have no complaints about the food here. Although their highlights are their noodles set, but the rice set is great too, even the dipping sauces are good. They are offering 5 rice set (RM10.90 per set) and 3 noodles set (RM7.50 per set) for the moment, the rice set will come with 2 type of side dishes, a bowl of soup and a cup of drink, while the noodles set only comes with drink and soup.

Secret Sauce Chicken Rice
After trying all the rice set, Gibson recommends the Secret Sauce Chicken Rice set, although it is close to the Sesame Chicken Rice in terms of flavour, but has a stronger taste due to dried chilies and other spices to enhance the flavour.

Fried Garlic Pork Rice
The portion of the meat is actually enough for 2 persons, can be a bit dry if eaten without the free soup.

Fried Chicken Rice
Gibson would say this is the chicken version of the Fried Garlic Pork.

Hakka Pork Leg Rice
Taste a like the Nyonya pork leg version, but less sweet and more on the salty side.

Sesame Chicken Rice
Served with more meat than the Secret Sauce Chicken Rice, but did not taste as good.

For the rice set, they will provide 3 different side dishes for you to choose any 2. On the day of our visit, we had stir fried bean curd, onion omelette and sauté vegetable.

Spicy Noodles
It may not look spicy, but don’t believe what you see, it is actually quite spicy.

There are providing 4 dipping sauces to enhance your dining experience, and Gibson especially likes the sambal (Chili paste), sweet and sour with a touch of spiciness.

All the set come with a cup of drink, you can choose from the 3 that they offer, which are the Mint Herbal tea, Barley water and Loh Han Gou Longan.
