=Penang= Boey Chong Kee, Cantonese Restaurant @ People’s Court, off Lebuh Cintra, George Town

Although Penang is known as a Hokkien territory, but there are quite a number of good Cantonese restaurants in town, and one of the them is Boey Chong Kee at People’s Court. This article also published in Foodsion Magazine, please support support ya!

Having been around for 65 years, the Cantonese dishes here remain authentic and home-cooked style, they may not look appealing, but many find their way here for the nostalgic taste.

Stir-Fried Mushroom with Century Egg RM12
An interesting dish that is prepared with their unique black sauce, is the mixture the Century Egg with 3 types of mushrooms, just not something common in the home nor any restaurant kitchen.

Braised Ginger Duck RM15
The Braised ginger duck is well-known with its unique black sauce and it is a must order dish here. The duck is tender with a touch of ginger, where you get the sweetness from the meat while having a little ginger spice kick at the end.

Deep-Fried Prawn Fritters RM20
The Deep-Fried Prawn Fritters here are deep-fried whole prawns instead of fritters. For those prawn lovers will savour the juiciness and crispiness of every bite.

Kwai Fah Chi RM27
Kwai Fah Chi is actually fried egg with shark’s fin or glass noodles that is served with lettuce wrap. However, the egg here can be bit too dry.

Stir-Fried mixed Beef RM15
Another signature dish here is the stir-fried mix of tender beef slices, internal organs, spring onions and ginger, Gibson likes to eat it with Chilli.

Stir-Fried Kailan RM12
A simple dish yet delicious vegetables to compliment the meat dishes.

Gibson is now working together with CK Lam from what2seeonline to hunt and discuss about the same food. We will write in Chinese and English from our respective perspectives, though it may sound conflicting, but in actual fact we complement one another.
