=Penang= DIY Pancake @ Slappy Cakes, One Garage M Mall, Times Square **Closed**

Slappy Cakes from Portland is now in Penang for those who like to “draw” a pancake. It literarily means to “draw” a pancake on the griddle when cooking, and Slappy Cakes Penang is attached to One Garage at M Mall, Times Square.

You just need to choose the ready-to-cook Batter, Fixins (condiments) and toppings to begin to have some pancake fun. As you can see in the photo, Gibson got his colleague to write his name with the chocolate batter.

In One Garage M Mall, you will find some tables setting with an in-built griddle and the waiter will present you with the Slappy Cakes menu.

From Left: Batter – Pandan (RM13), Chocolate (RM13), Peanut butter (RM13) and Buttermilk (RM9).
We ordered all 4 choices of batter, but it is recommended to have fun with the Buttermilk and Chocolate.

The colour and taste of Peanut butter and Pandan not really make a big difference to the Buttermilk, although all of the batter are quite tasty.

There are 12 choices of sweet Fixins and 4 savoury choices. We chose Pecans, Toasted Almonds, Cheddar Cheese, Chicken Sausage and Pineapple. You need to pay RM3.50 for each choice, but blueberries and strawberries will cost an extra RM1.50 each. However, if you order 4 choices, you get another for free and this offer can be mixed choices of fixins and toppings.

There are 10 choices of topping and 5 flavours of ice cream. We ordered Maple Syrup, Peanut butter, pumpkin Kaya and 2 flavours of ice cream. However, they served us the ice cream first before the batter and everything else, a bit odd considering that the ice cream will melt fast.

To use the batter on griddle is rather simple, and we really had fun with it.

The griddle is non-stick and won’t burn the batter even we can be a bit slow.

These are some of the art pieces from us.

We even mixed the savoury Fixins with the batter and it blends well with the pancake.
