The abandoned jetty has been given a second chance to shine again, when a foreigner sees so much potential in it. Today, this once abandoned place has become a haven for many tourists known as Tubotel hotel, because this is the first concrete tube hotel with an amazing sea view in Malaysia.
According to their website introduction, "Tubotel is the first budget concept hotel of its kind in Asia. This abstract hotel where you live in a concrete tube, takes minimalist accommodation to the maximum. "
Since it is a budget hotel with a minimalist concept, the room is only big enough to fit a King-size bed with no bathroom attached. However, the air conditional is more than sufficient for a small space like this.
The luggage can be stored underneath the bed, as there is not much space left in the room. Even the housekeepers have to work outside of the room.
They offer 2 types of tube rooms namely the seafront and garden tube. If you opt for the seafront tube, the “million dollars” sea view is just right in front of your door, where you can stay outside or inside the room to enjoy the immediate view and sea breeze.
Gibson likes the greenery here, almost everywhere near the tube.

Besides the tube, they do offer female dormitories or pods that are even cheaper than the tube.
These are the shared bathrooms equipped with shower and toilet facilities.
Filtered drinking water are available at the lobby area.
Tubotel may be small in terms of room space, but they are pretty spacious when it comes to the common areas namely the Lepak Lounge, so the room guests can always hang around and perhaps get to know some new friends during the stay.
Giant day-bed sun-loungers is one of their popular common area.
The café is also another nice spot to hang around, here is also the place for breakfast.
Every tube is given 2 set of breakfast with room with breakfast package. The breakfast menu is rotated daily and it served from 7am to 11am. These are the Thursday menu, strongly recommended to have breakfast here, because their food is so yummy.
All breakfast set is served with home baked bread, butter & Jam, and choice of ONE serving of tea, freshly brewed coffee, white coffee or orange drink.
