=Travel= Thailand-Bangkok Dessert Haven

Food hunting in Bangkok is always fun and interesting, because they are so creative and yet ambitious. Even their desserts are never the typical or boring type, they will never let you down when it comes to food. Let’s find out what Bangkok has to offer.

First stop, The Banana Fries that taste like French Fries but is called “Better Fries” at Mama Monkey, Bangkok. Do you know why? The answer is simply because banana is healthier than potato, if you don’t agree, you can ask the Minions. “Better Fries” costs 59 Baht that is served with Wasabi Mayo and Tom Yum Kong.

There are several outlets of Mama Monkey around Bangkok; I got my fries at Terminal 21 Mall.

Mama Monkey
Address: LG Floor, Terminal 21 Mall, 2.88, Sukhumvit Soi 19, Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, Thailand.
Business Hours: 10am - 10pm. Opens Daily.

Besides Mama Monkey, you will see quite a number of Kyo Roll En Café. Gibson had tried 2 of their signature products, Mixed Soft Cream & Ice Marron Latte. The Mixed Soft Cream is a mixture of Sesame and Matcha Soft Serve Ice Cream that is served with Mochi, Azuki Red Bean Paste and Green Tea Chocolate. A cup of this cost 109 Baht.

The Ice Marron Latte cost 105 Bath, and the taste is a bit like soya bean, but richer and creamier.

If you like sweets, Sangkaya with Steamed Bread (40 Baht) is one of the traditional food that you should try. Sangkaya tastes like our Kaya (Coconut Egg jam) back home. Sangkaya is comparatively much more watery in texture and sweeter in taste. You can look for Sangkaya at Kuang Heng Pratunam right opposite the famous Platinum fashion Mall.

Kuang Heng Pratunam
Address: 960- 962, Phetchaburi Road, Ratchathewi, Bangkok, Thailand.

Dairy Queen is well known for its sticky ice cream, which you can hold the cup of ice cream upside down. They are everywhere in Bangkok and you can easily get yourself a cone of Green Tea Ice Cream for 20 Baht.

Bangkok is really a good place to eat glutinous rice with mangoes, a“dessert cum daily food” which can be as cheap as 50 Baht to several hundred Baht depending on the quality of the Mangoes.

Gibson had his glutinous rice with mangoes at Cafe Titazza at the airport for 180 Baht. As good as it should be.
